  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue or double-sided tape

Step-by-Step Instructions for Mini Easter Basket Craft:

  1. Print the Template: Start by printing out the free mini Easter basket template. You can find two different sizes below.
  1. Cut Out the Template and Construction Paper: Place the template over a sheet of your chosen color of construction paper. Cut out the template and the construction paper together, ensuring they match up perfectly.
  1. Fold Along the Dotted Lines: Carefully fold the construction paper along the dotted lines indicated on the template to create the shape of the basket.
  1. Secure the Flaps: Apply glue or double-sided tape to flap 1, then press it onto flap 2 to assemble the basket. Ensure the edges are aligned correctly for a neat finish.
  1. Decorate Your Basket: Now comes the fun part! Decorate the outside of your basket using construction paper flowers, stickers, or any other decorations you like. Let your creativity shine!
  1. Fill Your Basket: Finally, fill your mini Easter basket with shredded paper or crinkled paper to create a nest-like effect. Add a few chocolate eggs or small treats as the finishing touch.

Tips for Success:

  • Use a bone folder or the back of a spoon to make crisp folds along the dotted lines.
  • If using glue, allow adequate drying time to ensure the basket holds together well.
  • For a cohesive look, coordinate the colors of your construction paper with the rest of your Easter decor.

Skills Learned:

  • Fine Motor Skills: Cutting out the template and folding the paper require precision and control, helping to develop fine motor skills.
  • Creativity and Imagination: Decorating the baskets allows children to express their creativity and personalize each basket to their liking.
  • Following Instructions: Assembling the basket according to the steps helps children practice reading and following instructions, enhancing their ability to understand and execute tasks.

This Mini Easter Basket craft is a delightful way to add a homemade touch to your Easter celebrations. Not only does it offer a fun and creative activity for the whole family, but it also results in adorable baskets that can be filled with treats and treasures. Happy crafting, and may your Easter be filled with joy, creativity, and lots of chocolate eggs!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 aired in August 2023! My show was also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Curious Crafting Season 1 is also now airing in Australia on ABC! Watch it here!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
