INSIDE: Apple colour sorting sensory bag is a great way to practice colour recognition and sorting with toddlers and preschooler this fall
Sensory Bags for Learning
I love sensory bags activities for learning. They are easy to create and provide an unique hands-on experience. Sensory bags are also a great way to work on fine motor skills along with learning a skill.
There are lots of options you can use inside the sensory bag to help your little one move the items around.I like to use water for more of my ideas because its easy and accessible but you can also use clear hair gel or clear hand soap.

Make quiet time one of their favourite times!
Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.
Our Sensory Play Kits are a fun and easy way to keep your child engaged while at the same time capitalizing on the benefits of sensory play to nurture their mind!

How to Apple Colour Sort Sensory Bag
Grab a large gallon sized ziplock bag and an alcohol wipe. Clean off the white label on the bag using the alcohol wipe. Take your colorful sharpies and draw a rainbow set of apples – six in all from red to purple. Don’t forget to add a stem and leaf to your apples.

Grab your pony beads in all the colours of the rainbow from red to purple and add them to the sensory bag. At least 10 of each would be enough.

Next, add enough water and hair gel in a 1:2 ratio to allow the pony beads to move easily but not too much. If you add too much water the beads will continue to float and it will be hard keep the beads in one spot. Add more hair gel if they start floating around too much
Playing with the Sensory Bag
Seal the sensory bag and remove as much air as you can. Seal the top using clear packing tape. Attach the sensory bag to a table or floor surface using painter’s tape.

How to Play
Invite your preschooler to move the pony beads into the apples that match the colour.

Age Suitability
This activity is good for kids 3 years and up. My kids are 3.5, 3.5, and 7 year old.
