- Bubble wrap
- Washable paint
- Large sheet of white paper
To start, you will need a few supplies: bubble wrap, washable paint, a large sheet of white paper, tape, and scissors. Cut the bubble wrap into pieces that are large enough to cover the bottom of your child’s foot. Next, tape the bubble wrap to the bottom of their feet with the bubbles facing down. It’s a good idea to use several pieces of tape to make sure the bubble wrap stays in place.
Once the bubble wrap is securely attached to your child’s feet, it’s time to get painting! Pour some washable paint onto a large sheet of white paper. You can either spread it out evenly have it all in one area. Then, have your child step onto the paint-covered paper and begin stomping around to create colorful prints. Encourage them to move their feet in different directions to create a unique pattern. Once they’re finished, carefully remove the bubble wrap from their feet and let the painting dry.
- If you’re worried about the mess, do this activity over grass or cover the ground with a tarp or newspaper to make clean up easier.
- Use a variety of colors to create a vibrant rainbow effect.
- Encourage your child to experiment with different footprints, such as walking on their heels or toes.
- For younger children, you can cut the bubble wrap into smaller pieces and attach it to their hands to create handprints instead of footprints.
- Have your child create a story or picture based on the prints they created.
- Use the prints to create homemade greeting cards or wrapping paper.
- Experiment with different textures by attaching other materials to your child’s feet, such as sponges or cloth.
- Tape down shapes on the paper and invite your child to stomp over the shapes and then remove them to reveal the negative space below.

TV Show: Curious Crafting
I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.
Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.
In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.
Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.
This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
