Christmas Tree Surprise Art is a great crayon resist art activity for toddlers and preschoolers. Super easy to set up and a fun activity for little ones over the holidays!

I love crayon resist art activities. They are simple to create for my toddlers and the perfect painting activity for their age group. Plus, who doesn’t like to get a little surprise while they are painting!

Draw presents under the tree and even snowflakes all around the tree. Remember to press down hard with the white crayon, this will allow it to show up better when your little one paints over it with the watercolours.

Elf on the Shelf Surprise

If you are feeling ambitious try your hand at drawing an elf on the shelf somewhere in your in Christmas tree picture! This would make a great Elf on the Shelf art activity for toddlers!

Christmas Tree Surprise Art

Invite your toddler to take the watercolor paints and paint the tree and the entire paper to find the surprises you left for them.

I learned a little something new doing this activity with my toddlers. Crayon resist art works using just water. So if you don’t have access to watercolor paints you can still do this activity by just painting water over the sheet of white paper with white crayon drawings.
