Dinosaurs: the mighty creatures that once roamed our planet continue to capture the imagination of children across the globe. From the fierce Tyrannosaurus Rex to the towering Brachiosaurus, these prehistoric giants inspire awe and curiosity. Just like archaeologists carefully uncover dinosaur bones, revealing secrets of the past, our Crayon Resist Dinosaur Craft lets your kids discover the hidden world of dinosaur bones through the magical technique of resist painting.

How to Make A Crayon Resist Dinosaur

Material List

  • Watercolor paper
  • Dinosaur templates (printable)
  • White crayon
  • Watercolor paint
  • Paintbrush

Directions

  1. Trace the Dinosaur: Download and print off your child’s favorite dinosaur from the templates above. Place your dinosaur template on the watercolor paper. Trace it with a pencil and cut it out.
  2. Color with Crayon: Use a white crayon to draw the bones or skeleton of the dinosaur over the dinosaur outline. The white crayon will create a wax barrier that will resist the watercolor paint.
  3. Apply Watercolor: Now, brush watercolor paint over the entire paper. You’ll see the dinosaur bones and skeleton details emerge as the paint is repelled by the crayon wax.
  4. Let It Dry: Allow your artwork to dry completely. Once dry, you can add more details with watercolor or markers if you like.
