Easy Paper Ghost Craft: Spooky Fun for All!

October is upon us, and with Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to gather some simple materials and get creative. I’ve got the perfect little project for you today – an easy paper ghost craft that’s so much fun, it’s (almost) scary! Not only is this project super simple, but it’s also a fantastic way to spend some quality crafty time with your kiddos. So, gather around the crafting table and let’s dive right in!

You know, some of the best crafts are those that transform everyday items into something magical. This ghost craft takes a plain piece of white paper and turns it into an adorable decoration. Whether you want to light up your room or just bring a smile to someone’s face, these paper ghosts are up for the task!

Easy Paper Ghost Craft

What You’ll Need:

  • White paper
  • Spray bottle
  • Water
  • Scissors
  • Tray or baking sheet
  • A foam ball or aluminum foil (that’s right, kitchen foil!)
  • Toothpick or bamboo stick
  • Small box or cut cardboard stacked on each other
  • Black pen

Here’s How to Make Your Paper Ghost Craft

  1. Shape it Right: Start by turning your white paper into a square. Do this by folding one corner over to the edge and cutting off the remaining rectangle.
  2. Stand it Up: Grab your foam ball and push the dull end of a toothpick or bamboo stick into its center. Stick the sharp end into your cardboard stack or small box. This helps the ball remain upright while you work on your ghost.
  3. Get It Wet: Lay your square paper on a tray (this is to catch any stray droplets). Give it a good spray with water until the entire sheet is nice and damp.
  1. Mold Your Ghost: Very carefully, drape the wet paper over the foam ball, shaping it gently around the ball. A pro tip here: Make sure the bottom of the paper rests on the cardboard and molds flat. This ensures your ghost can stand tall and proud when it’s all dried up.
  2. Drying Time: Set your little ghostly creations aside to dry for a few hours. If patience isn’t your strong suit (or if the kiddos are eager to play with their new friends), you can use a blow dryer to speed things up!
  1. Give Them Personality: Once dry, grab your black pen and draw some cute ghost faces. Feel free to get creative – maybe some have surprised looks while others are giggling.
  2. Set Them Free: Gently remove your paper ghost from the foam ball. And voila! You can place a tea light underneath for a soft glow, or make a bunch and string them onto fairy lights for an eerie evening ambiance.

A Few Tips for Success

  • No foam ball? No worries! Just scrunch up some aluminum foil into a ball shape, and you’re good to go.
  • The wetter the paper, the more ghostly and draped the final result will be, but make sure not to tear the paper!
  • Cut out square piece of cardboard (at least 3) and glue them together. This can be your back for making the ghost if you don’t have a small box.

Skills Kids Learn:

While crafting these cute little phantoms, kids will develop several skills:

  • Fine Motor Skills: From folding and cutting the paper to drawing faces on the ghosts.
  • Patience: Waiting for the ghosts to dry teaches the virtue of patience.
  • Creativity: Designing different ghost faces allows kids to let their imagination run wild.

So there you have it – an easy, fun, and oh-so-spooky craft for the Halloween season. Whether you’re hosting a Halloween party or just looking for a weekend activity, these paper ghosts are sure to be a hit. Happy crafting, everyone!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.

The Best Sensory Play Kits for Kids

Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.

Our Sensory Play Kits are some fun and easy ways to keep your child engaged while at the same time using sensory play to nurture their mind!
