INSIDE: Fall Tree Letter Match preschool activity is a fun and easy literacy and colour matching activity for toddlers and preschoolers for Fall. So easy to set up and a great way to keep them entertained while making dinner!
Learning while I make dinner
Thursday nights are busy for us. Everyone has gymnastics and we don’t get home until after 6pm which is very close to bath and bedtime for my twins. On this night, we were even later and I didn’t have a chance to prep dinner before leaving. So we got home; everyone was hungry and I had to starting making dinner at around 6:15 pm! Whew… can you feel the pressure?

Well, I walk into the kitchen to start and my preschoolers follow me in and immediately look at the fridge and ask, “What’s this, mommy?” I look over and realize I had set up this Fall Tree Letter Matching activity a day earlier and forgot to show it to them. My heart leap! Yes!!! This will keep them occupied while I make dinner.
I immediately play it up… Oh its a fall tree with letter leaves!! Can you guys match them? I say all this as I was removing items I planned to cook for dinner from the fridge. I was simultaneously patting myself on the back for prepping an activity and being able to use it when I really needed it and kicking myself for working out earlier in the day instead of making dinner.

Oh well, my preschoolers, sat on the floor in front of the tree and forgot their hunger for a short while (ok, I fed them a half of a bagel to keep them happy playing while I made dinner). It was fantastic. I am glad I added more letters because with the two of them doing the activity they finished quickly. Then I said, oh looks a big wind is coming and I went over and swiped all the letters down! Oops we have to do it again! They loved it!

Make quiet time their favourite time!
Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.
My Sensory Play Kits are a fun and easy way to keep your child engaged while at the same time capitalizing on the benefits of sensory play to nurture their mind!

How to Set Up Fall Tree Letter Match
The set up for this activity is super easy. All you need is red, orange, yellow and brown construction paper. Cut out a trunk and it tape down. Use the other colours as the tops of the tree. Grab a sharpie and write the letters to match the fridge magnetic letters you have. I had my twins match uppercase letters with the lowercase letter in this activity for added practice.

Age Suitability for Fall Tree Letter Match
This activity is good for kids 3 years and up. My kids are 3.5, 3.5, and 7 year old.
