INSIDE: Earth Day Sticky Wall is a super fun and creative art activity for toddlers or preschoolers. Create and decorate your very own Earth for Earth Day!
Supplies
- Contact paper
- Scissors
- Green and blue tissue paper
- White cotton balls
- Masking Tape
- Colourful IKEA Bowl
Setting Up the Earth Day Sticky
Before taping up your sticky wall, draw a large circle using your black sharpie on the back of the contact paper. You can draw the land and water in two ways. You can either leave the inside of the planet blank and let your little one decorate it with green and blue tissue paper as they like (this option is great for younger toddlers). Or you can use a green and blue sharpie to create the outline of where the land and water will go.
Note: I drew my planet earth after putting up my sticky wall. I don’t recommend this as you will be writing on the sticky surface. I find I get better results when I draw on the back of the contact paper before putting it up.

Putting Up Your Sticky Wall
Contact paper has one side that is very very sticky, so unrolling it and taping it to a wall can be a little tricky. Here’s how I do it:
Step 1
Stick the sticky wall up on the wall using small rolled up pieces of tape in the four corners. Make sure the paper backing side is facing out.
Step 2
Peel the paper backing off to expose one small corner of the sticky paper. Continue peeling the paper backing off until one side is exposed. Tape that side down fully using Painter’s tape. This will ensure that it doesn’t fall down as your child is playing.

Step 3
Slowing peel back the remaining paper backing and tape down the other side.

Step 4 (optional)
Remove the small rolled up pieces of tape from underneath the sticky wall. These rolled up pieces were just there to help you get the sticky wall set up and can be removed once your sticky wall fully up. But if you don’t mind them there you don’t have to remove them.

Decorating The Planet Earth
Grab your blue and green tissue paper and cut them into small squares. Place each colour into bowls. Invite your toddler or preschooler to use the tissue paper to decorate the earth, either following your drawing or as they like!

Add Fluffy Clouds
Once they are done the earth, you can bring out the cotton balls for the clouds around the Earth.
