Haunted House Counting Activity for Kids

Picture a spooktacular adventure that combines the thrills of a haunted house with the excitement of counting and math. We’re diving into a bewitching activity that’s perfect for young learners: the Haunted House Counting Activity for Kids. With just a few simple materials and some creativity, you can create a haunted neighborhood where numbers and Halloween goodies come to life. Materials You’ll Need

• Large sheet of white paper
• Black marker
• Sticky notes
• Imagination and creativity
• Painters tape

Crafting Your Haunted Neighborhood

1. Draw the Haunted Houses: Begin by tracing four sticky note squares on your large sheet of white paper to create the haunted houses. Divide each square house into four smaller squares, the same size as your sticky notes. This will be the canvas for your spooky residences. Repeat this at least 5 more time for a total of 6 houses.

2. Add Spooky Details: Let your imagination run wild as you decorate each house to make it look like a haunted mansion. Draw spider webs, bats soaring through the night sky, and other eerie elements that give it that ghostly charm. Make sure to leave space on the roof for the number.

3. Label with Numbers: In the roof of each haunted house, write a number. For kids aged 3-4, keep the numbers under 12. For 5-year-olds, use numbers ranging from 10 to 20. And for 6-year-olds, you can even introduce simple math problems instead of single-digit numbers.

4. Create Halloween Sticky Notes: On your sticky notes, draw Halloween items that match the numbers on the houses. For example, if you have the number 5 on one roof, draw five pumpkins on a sticky note. Create four different sticky notes with Halloween items for each house, and make sure they match the numbers or math problems.

5. Place the numbers all around your large sheet of white paper. You can stick within on the floor, table or even a wall. Place all the sticky notes around the paper. Invite your child to choose one sticky note and count the numbers and then have them stick it on the house with the matching number.

With your haunted neighborhood ready and the sticky notes adorned with Halloween treasures, it’s time to invite your child to explore and count their way through this spooky adventure. Tips for Success

• When you are cutting your large sheet of white paper, make sure you have enough room for all six haunted houses including their roofs. Use a black marker with a thick tip to make your haunted house details stand out and look spooktacular.
• Encourage creativity in decorating the houses, letting your child add their own haunted touches like ghosts, witches, or creepy crawlies.
• Ensure that the numbers on the roofs and the corresponding Halloween items on the sticky notes are clear and easy to read.
