AHEAD: Heart Cookie Cutter Fine Motor Activity is a super easy way to help your kids to work on their fine motor skills this Valentine’s.

Working on fine motor skills is something that your little one will need to do through out their early childhood. They will continue to develop their fine motor skills past preschool and well into grade and elementary school. Why are they important? They are key to kids being able to hold a pencil and write as well doing other activities such as cutting. Finding fun ways to help your little one work on their fine motor muscles is as simple as looking in your kitchen drawers!

Heart Cookie Cutter Fine Motor Valentine’s Activity

We had our heart cookies cutters out for various Valentine’sDay activities we have been doing over the last week and I also had a bored 6.5 year old at home doing online schooling. I wanted her to have a few minutes of non screen time. She isn’t used to being on the screen so much, prior to this she had no screens during the week!

Heart Cookie Cutter Fine Motor Valentine's Activity

This activity was perfect. I pulled out some clothespins and pony elastics. Added some washi tape because I love washi tape, pipe cleaners and yarn!

How she played

She put the clothespins off and on, trying to make them equal distance from each other around the heart. Sh also stretched the pony and regular elastics around the hearts to create a stretchy web. With the pipe cleaners she wrapped and unwrapped them around the cookie cutters until they were covered. The yarn turned out to one fun as well. She wrapped it around making a small web inside the heart!
