Creating the Ice Rubber Ducks

To begin this exciting activity, gather a set of rubber ducks and a large ice tray. Fill the ice tray with water, then gently place the rubber ducks inside. Carefully place the ice tray in the freezer and let it freeze overnight. As the rubber ducks freeze, their adventures are just beginning!

Setting up the Sensory Pond

Once the ice rubber ducks are ready, it’s time to create a sensory pond! Place the frozen ducks on a large tray or shallow container. To make a pond-like setting, add a small amount of water to the tray to allow the ice rubber ducks slide and spin on the surface of the tray.

For a splash of excitement, you can also add a few drops of food coloring to the water, creating vibrant ducks in an icy blue pond. This simple addition will transform the tray into a whimsical pond, where the ducks can glide and spin as they melt.

Splash and Spin

With the pond set and the ducks ready to play, it’s time for your kids to take the lead! Encourage them to touch and feel the cold ice, experiencing the contrasting textures of the frozen ducks and the water in the pond. As they spin the ducks on the pond, they’ll witness a delightful dance of colors and textures as the ice melts and the ducks move.

Benefits of Sensory Play

The Ice Rubber Ducks Sensory Play Activity offers a myriad of benefits for your little ones. As they explore the frozen textures and interact with the icy pond, they enhance their sensory perception and fine motor skills. The vibrant colors and playful movements of the ducks promote creativity and imagination, while the process of watching the ice melt fosters a sense of curiosity and discovery.

The Ice Rubber Ducks Sensory Play Activity is a unique and engaging way for kids to embrace sensory exploration and creative play. With rubber ducks frozen in ice, and a colorful pond for them to glide upon, this sensory adventure promises laughter, fun, and wonderful memories. So, get ready to dive into this quirky and icy escapade with your little ones. Watch as their faces light up with joy and fascination as they splash, spin, and play with their icy rubber duck friends in their delightful pond of sensory fun! Happy splashing!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
