I love painting activities that use unusual items especially one that are normally forbidden like knives!
In this activity we used plastic knives that have a serrated edge. It wasn’t sharp but you should still be careful when doing this activity with your toddler or preschooler. And as with all my activities adult supervision is required.

Set Up
Turkey Body
Using the construction paper cut out the body, beak and the waddle of the turkey.
Have your toddler or preschooler glue the beak and waddle to the face of the turkey. Then add the googly eyes!
I would not set out the paint just yet. It can be hard for toddlers and preschoolers to focus on a gluing task when globs of paint are sitting right in front of them.
Glue the turkey body to your piece of white paper.
Knife Painting
When painting with the knife your toddler or preschooler can use all sides of the knife to create the feathers.
Simply have them dip the knife in a colour and then press it around the turkey to create a plume of feathers.
Let them Paint
My 3 year-old loves to mix paint. So after she used each colour once she wanted to mix up all the colours and the product was wonderful!
