  • Food coloring
  • Dish soap
  • Q-Tips
  • Watercolor paper
  • Scissors
  • Construction paper (green for leaves)
  • Glue

How to Make Milk Experiment Flowers

Step 1: Create the Milk Experiment

Pour a small amount of milk onto a plate or shallow dish. Add drops of food coloring to the milk in various spots. Dip the Q-Tip into the dish soap and then place it in the center of the milk. Watch as the colors move and swirl around the Q-Tip.

Step 2: Transfer the Design onto Watercolor Paper

Carefully place a piece of watercolor paper onto the milk experiment, making sure to press it down gently so it absorbs the colors. Let the paper sit for a few seconds before carefully removing it from the milk experiment.

Step 3: Cut out Flower Shapes

Using scissors, cut the watercolor paper into small squares. Then, cut the squares into flower shapes. Each square can make one flower by cutting out petal shapes.

Step 4: Assemble the Flowers

Use green construction paper to cut out stems and leaf shapes. Glue the stems and leaves to a piece of construct paper. Glue on the flower. Add Pom Poms to center of the flowers.

By creating milk experiment flowers crafts, kids can learn about the scientific properties of milk and dish soap, while also exploring their artistic creativity. This activity is perfect for kids of all ages and is a great way to spend quality time with your child. So, grab some milk, food coloring, dish soap, and watercolor paper, and get ready to make some beautiful milk experiment flowers crafts!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
