Painted Canvas Bag Instructions

Step 1: Start by taping off any areas of the bag that you want to remain blank. You can create stripes, shapes, or any other design that you like. Make sure the tape is pressed down firmly to avoid any paint bleeding underneath. Place a piece of cardboard inside the bag. This helps prevent the paint from bleeding on to the other side and also help the paint adhere to the canvas betters

Step 2: Pour a small amount of acrylic paint onto a paper plate or bowls, and dip your paintbrush into the paint. Start by painting the one section in a single color. (my younger artists didn’t like this approach and that’s OK!). Once you have completed one section select another colour to the other sections.

Step 3: Paint within the taped-off areas of the bag. Make sure to paint in one direction, and avoid going over the same area multiple times. This will help prevent the paint from bleeding under the tape. This is great for even the youngest of artists because no matter how they paint it will look cool!

Step 4: Once the first coat of paint is dry, remove the painter’s tape while the paint is still slightly wet to avoid any peeling.

Step 5: Let the bag dry completely before using or gifting it.

Perfect Mother’s Day or Teacher Gift Idea

This project is perfect for kids to get creative with, and it’s a great way to personalize a gift for mom or any special person in your life. You can also experiment with different designs, shapes, and colors to make each bag unique. So, gather your supplies and start creating your own painted canvas bag today!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
