My toddlers love to sort things. Whether it’s blocks magnetic tiles, toys or books, my twins 15 month olds are always lining up things or putting things in other things!

Sorting is a great way for them to make sense of their world and all the new and interesting things happening around them.

I often give my toddlers a stack of magnetic tiles and they will sit and stack and unstack them for quite a while!

Muffin Tin Sorting
Using a muffin tin to sort objects is a simple and effective way to help your toddler organize objects. It is also a great way for babies to start sorting.

You can also have your toddler sort balls or blocks or pom poms in a muffin tin.
Fruit and Veggie Sorting
Set out the muffin tin in front of your toddler or baby along with your play fruits and veggies.
It is important that you first model what you want them to do. Put one of the fruits or vegetables into one section of the muffin tin and let them try the same

For my young toddlers I helped them sort the fruits and vegetables and then I just let them place the fruits or veggies into the muffin tin randomly.
For older toddlers you can have them sort the vegetable and fruits without your help. They can also sort by colour!
