Ready to make something that’ll wow dad? Let’s dive in!

Materials You’ll Need
- Clear plastic page protector (like the ones for binders)
- Black permanent marker
- Blue construction paper
- Yellow construction paper
- Black construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Make the Flashlight: Start by drawing a simple flashlight shape on the blue construction paper. This will be the “magic” flashlight that uncovers the mystery picture! Cut out the flashlight shape carefully.

- Add the Light Beam: Cut out a triangular or cone-shaped beam of “light” from the yellow construction paper.
Glue or tape it to the end of your blue flashlight shape. Now you’ve got your special tool to reveal the hidden picture!

- Create the Mystery Picture: Take the clear plastic page protector and use your black permanent marker to draw a picture with a sweet message for dad. We love writing, “I love you to the moon and back” with some cute space doodles — but you can totally personalize it! Maybe your kid wants to draw dad’s favorite hobby, or a silly family portrait. Anything goes!

- Add the Black Background: Slide a sheet of black construction paper into the page protector.
This hides the mystery picture completely, so when dad first looks, all he sees is a black sheet — the mystery begins!

- The Big Reveal: When it’s time to show dad his card, hand him the flashlight cutout. Invite him to slide it into the page protector pocket, moving it around to reveal the hidden picture and message underneath! It’s like shining a real light to find a special secret — how fun is that?

Tips for the Best Mystery Card
- Let kids get creative! They can write their own silly jokes or sweet notes, or even do a drawing of something they love about dad.
- Add stickers or fun designs. Foam stickers or gel pens can add extra pop!
- Make it part of a bigger surprise. Hand dad his mystery card along with a big hug and his favorite breakfast in bed.

This Mystery Father’s Day Card Craft isn’t just another card — it’s an experience.
Kids get to play artist, magician, and super kid all at once, and dad gets a one-of-a-kind keepsake he’ll treasure forever.
Plus, there’s just something extra sweet about seeing that surprise and delight on dad’s face when he uncovers the secret message.
So gather your paper, let your kids’ imaginations run wild, and get ready to make dad’s day extra special. Because nothing says “World’s Best Dad” like a handmade mystery card made with love!
