I’ve whipped together a super fun paper plate popsicle craft to keep your kids busy during the hot summer months AND it looks almost delicious enough to eat!

For this cute craft I had these glittery ombre paper plates left over from my daughter’s birthday party.

There were only a few left so not really enough to save for the next birthday but just enough to create something fun with.

We decided to create popsicles. It was a hot day outside and my kids wanted a little popsicle treat. So not only did we make this cute craft we also made some homemade popsicles.

If you don’t already have colorful paper plates, no worries! Your kids can paint them and then add glitter! Check out the instructions below for details.

Materials

  • Colorful Paper plate or white paper plate, paint and glitter
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Small Pom Poms
  • Popsicle sticks

How to Make Paper Plate Popsicle Craft

  1. If you don’t have colorfully paper plates (which we normally don’t have) you get to paint them! You can use a brush or a sponge to paint the white paper plates. Choose two colors and paint the rim of the paper plate one color. Paint the inside of the paper plate another color. Before the paint dries, add some gold glitter to the paint.
  2. Once the plate is dry, Cut out three popsicle shapes (curved on the top and straight on the bottom from the paper plate. Be sure to get both colors on the popsicles.
  3. Cut your pipe cleaner into small pieces about 1/2 inch long, these will be your sprinkles.
  4. Glue them all other your popsicles. You can also glue on small pom poms.
  1. Glue a popsicle stick to the bottom of the paper plate. And your yummy cute popsicles are done!

Add your popsicles to your kitchen for a cute summer pretend play activity or serve them up to your stuffed animals at your next tea party!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.
