This Pumpkin Presents Activity is Fun

I know I say this a lot but there are a few activities that my toddlers just love doing and this is one of them. Using foil in activities is super easy and accessible and it give the activity a cool added sensory appeal for toddlers. Who can resist opening up a shiny, crinkly present?

How to Set Up Pumpkin Presents

Grab your aluminum foil and mini pumpkins and gourds. Tear off just enough to cover the entire mini pumpkins. Wrap it around the mini pumpkins and gourds. Place the pumpkin presents into a sensory bin or a basket.

Grab your construction paper in the colours that match the colours of your mini pumpkins and gourds. Our pumpkins were a range of green, orange, yellow and white so I grabbed construction paper in these colours.

Time to Unwrap the Pumpkin Presents

Invite your toddler or preschooler to unwrap the pumpkins are discover the pumpkin and gourd underneath. Ask them: what colour is it? If it’s more than one colour, ask them to tell you all the colours. Ask them which colour construction paper they think the pumpkin go on.

Once they are complete, ask them to take the foil and re-warp the mini pumpkins and gourds to make shiny presents again!

My twins absolutely loved this activity. They unwrapped and wrapped the pumpkin presents over and over again.
