Puzzles are a great way to entertain your baby or toddler. We have played with ours for years! But as fun as puzzles are sometimes they can use a little refresh to make them fun and exciting again. Check out this fun and easy way to make an old puzzle seem like new again.

Here’s how to get started!

The set up for this activity is crazy easy.

First remove all the puzzle pieces from the puzzle and put them to the side. Grab your post-its and stick one over top each puzzle area. And that is it! You are done!

We used a transportation puzzle that is a favorite with my little twins. Make sure to use any puzzle your little one is familiar with!

Time to Play Peek-a-Boo

I do not know a baby or young toddler that does not like a good game of peek-a-boo. So if you want your little one to really get into this you will have to play along.

Pull the first post-it off and say:

“Peek-a-boo! It’s a firetruck!”

Then quickly help them find the firetruck piece and fit it into the open spot. Next, encourage your little one to pull off another post-it. When they do you say:

“Peek-a-boo! It’s a airplane!”

Continue until all the post-its have been pulled off and all the puzzle pieces have been placed. And then play it again!

Skills Learned

This is a great fine motor skills activity for babies and toddlers as well as a great problem solving activity (as all puzzles are!). It is also a great way to increase your little one’s vocabulary.
