My almost 3 years old are super into letters right now. I have been incorporating them into lots of our activities and they are beginning to notice letters all around them. Its adorable to see them hello out looks there is an A for me as we past a store sign. If your little one is also going through a letter phase, future it with this fun and easy phonic activity.

How to Set Up Snowman Phonics Discovery Bags

Grab your paper bags and paint sticks. I used about 7 for this activity. Quickly draw a snowman on each bag. They don’t need to be perfect, just something that your little one will find enticing. Write the letters you wan your little one to practice on the snowman’s body. One letter for each bag.

Next, place different items that start with that letter into each bag. I used different toys, flashcards, and small items from around the house. place those things into the bags and line them up. Invite your toddler or preschooler to have a look in each bag and discover what is inside.

How to Play

Letting you toddler or preschooler discover what is inside is a great way to introduce this activity. As they pulled things out ask them what it is. Repeat the word emphasizing the begining sound. Point to the snowman on the bag and identify the letter on it. Let them continue pulling things out and identifying objects emphasizing the beginning letter sound.

Once they have finished taking all the objects out have them sort them back into the correct bags. Again identify they object, emphasizing the beginning letter sound and connecting that with the letter on the snowman.
