Adorable Reindeer Hand Puppet Craft

INSIDE: This adorable reindeer hand puppet craft is so much fun to make! Create a little hand puppet for the holiday season with your toddler or preschooler that they will love.

Christmas Craft Time

We are in full Christmas crafting mode here at our house. I finally cleared off the craft table. (It was filled with another project I’ve been working on for the last few weeks which is finally complete.) So now we (I) can focus on all things Christmasy!

This first Christmas craft of the season (I know! It’s the 20th and we are only just now starting to create new crafts, but better late than never!) And this first one is super super adorable! Great for toddlers and preschoolers, although you will need to help them with the folding. But it is also super fun for older kids!

Reindeer Hand Puppet Craft

Grab a piece brown construction paper. Fold it lengthwise 1/3 of the way. Repeat on the other side. Glue the larger side on top of the smaller side.

Next, fold the paper in half and then fold the top flap back. Repeat with the bottom.

Next, place a piece of tape on the back to help secure the hand puppet pocket. See photo below for how.

Now its time to create your reindeer! Cut out a red tongue and glue it inside your hand puppet.

Out of the tan construction paper, cut out an oval and glue it to the edge of your reindeer’s. Glue on a red pom pom on the nose.

Cut out ears and antlers from brown construction paper. Also cut out smaller inner ears from the tan construction paper. Glue the tan inner ears on to the larger brown ears. Then glue those to the upper corners of the reindeer hand puppet. Glue the antlers just inside the ears.

Finally attach googley eyes just above the nose. Or you can make eyes by cutting out two larger white circles and the two smaller black circles.

Time to play with your puppet. Place your hand in the back and create a mini Christmas play with your little puppet!

Age Suitability

This activity is more of a parent activity to make for your kids. Advent calendars are great for all ages! My kids are 3.5, 3.5, and 7 year old.

Brown, tan and red construction paper
Glue
Googley eyes (or black and white construction paper)
Red pom pom (or red construction paper)
Tape
Scissors
