Need a Father’s Day craft that says it all? This Best Dad in the World Craft is a creative way for kids to tell Dad he’s literally their whole world. It’s sweet, simple, and makes for a one-of-a-kind keepsake that any father figure will absolutely love.

This isn’t just another card—it’s a mini Earth that celebrates how awesome Dad is. Kids get to paint, cut, glue, and even learn a bit of geography while crafting. Bonus points for sneaking in some fine motor practice along the way!

Why You’ll Love This Father’s Day Craft

  • It’s 3D and interactive – a fun twist on flat cards.
  • It’s unique and thoughtful – Dad will definitely remember this one.
  • It’s easy to make – perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, or early elementary kids with a little grown-up help.
  • It sneaks in a little learning – think continents, colors, and where YOU are on the globe!

Whether you’re doing this at home, in a classroom, or as part of a Father’s Day party, this craft is sure to be a big hit.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 medium styrofoam ball (the smoother, the better!)
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Green felt (or green construction paper or foam sheets)
  • Foam sheet (any color) for the message label
  • Glue (tacky glue or hot glue with supervision)
  • Scissors
  • Marker or paint pen

How to Make the Best Dad in the World Craft

1. Paint the Globe

Start by painting the entire styrofoam ball with blue paint. You’re creating your mini Earth, so make sure to cover every side (a bowl or egg carton makes a great holder while it dries).

Let the paint dry completely before moving on. If your little one is impatient (who isn’t?), speed things up with a fan or hair dryer on low.

2. Cut Out the Continents

While your globe is drying, grab your green felt and scissors. Cut out rough shapes of the continents. Don’t worry about being geographically perfect—just aim for a general look that feels “Earthy.”

If your child is older, this is a great time to let them try tracing simple continent shapes or freehanding based on a map.

3. Glue on the Continents

Once the globe is dry, use tacky glue or hot glue to attach the felt continents to the globe. Spread them out across the surface so it looks like different parts of the world are represented.

Encourage kids to press them down firmly and talk about where they live—“Dad, you’re the best in our corner of the world!”

4. Add the Message

Cut a small rectangle or banner shape from your foam sheet. Use a marker or paint pen to write a sweet message like:

  • “Best Dad in the World!”
  • “You mean the world to me, Dad!”
  • “#1 Dad on Planet Earth!”

Glue the label to the top or front of the globe—or make a little sign and attach it to a toothpick or popsicle stick to stick into the globe like a flag.

5. Optional Extras

Cut a piece of ribbon and then glue it to the the top of the globe. Want to make it even more fun?

  • Add tiny felt hearts where you live.
  • Glue the globe to a recycled cup or jar lid to make a stand.
  • Stick on googly eyes and a smile to make your Earth extra happy!

This Best Dad in the World Globe Craft is such a fun and meaningful way for kids to celebrate their favorite guy. It’s hands-on, heartfelt, and comes together in less than 30 minutes—making it a great option for classrooms, playgroups, or quick at-home projects.

The finished craft is more than just a globe—it’s a reminder to Dad that in his child’s eyes, he’s everything. And really, what better gift is there than that?

So roll up your sleeves, grab the paint, and get ready to create something that’s truly out of this world!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 aired in August 2023! My show was also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Curious Crafting Season 1 is also now airing in Australia on ABC! Watch it here!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
