If you are looking for more sensory bin ideas available to you in a book form, I recently wrote a book on sensory bins Exciting Sensory Bins for Curious Kids. The book has 60 easy and creative sensory bin ideas for toddlers and preschoolers.

Setting up a Bubbles & Spiders Sensory Bin
We did this activity outside on a warm fall day. If possible take this fun sensory bin outside. If you can’t, place a few old towels under your sensory bin to help protect your floors.

Prepare the bubbles at your sink. I used either bubble bath or dish soap. Generally I used a 2:1 ratio of water to bubbles. But the more bubble bath or dish soap you use the more bubbles you will get. I used a hand blender to quickly ship up thick foaming irresistible bubbles!

I poured the soap into the sensory bin and add water. Then I whip up the bubbles right in the sensory bin. Once the bubbles are made I quickly move them over to the kids.

I handed them some spiders, some giant and some small and let them hid them in the sensory bin.

How to Play
Let your kids take the lead on this activity. Have them hide the spiders and then try to find them. Have them count them and put them into bowls or buckets. Let them wash and dry the spiders with sponges and generally enjoy the feeling of the bubbles and how they look when combined with the black spiders!

You can add bowls and spoons to extend the play as well.
My beautiful happy kids are 6 and 2 years old.
