Happy Earth Day! What better way to celebrate our planet than by trying to create your own little nature scene in play dough! Create your own Earth Day play dough invitation with a few simple items from home!
For play dough invitations I like to use a multi sectional appetizer tray but you can use small bowls to hold all the items in your invitation.
I like to leave out the tray on our sensory table and let my kids discover it. They are accustomed to play dough invitations being set out like this so when they see the items in the tray they can come and ask me for the play dough (which I don’t leave out). This gives them the illusion that they are initiating the activity.
Grab your green and blue play dough. Here’s our favourite homemade no-cook play dough recipe. It is truly the best out there. Anna from The Imagination Tree has a secret ingredient that makes all the difference. I used green play dough but you can actually use any colour that you have available.
The good thing about this play dough invitation is that you can and should use what you have at home! Feel free to modify the supplies list and to use what you have. Here are a few ideas of other things to include:
- Small plastic trees
- Lego or Duplo people
- Small wooden
- Pipe cleaners
What are you going to use?
I used twigs, small wooden dolls, rocks painted green and blue (See Rock Painted Earth Day Craft) and green and blue gem stones.
