INSIDE: Feather counting wands is a fun and easy math activity for toddlers and preschoolers. Create these adorable feather wands for your child to practice their one to one counting this Thanksgiving.

How to Make Feather Counting Wands
Grab your feathers in different colours. Organize them into groups by colour and then divide them into bundles of 1 to 6 feathers. If you don’t have enough colours to make bundles of 1 to 6 feather with one colour you can make feather bundles with many different colours.

Keep your feathers together by wrapping an elastic band around the ends of the feathers.

Next, attached a pipe cleaner to the end the feathers. I wrapped the pipe cleaner around the elastic bands to keep it in place and to prevent it from coming off while your child attaches the pony beads.

Next, write out 1 to 6 on the dot stickers and label all the feather in each bundle. For instance, if there are four feathers in the bundle, label the feathers 1 to 4 using the dot stickers.

Time to Count
Pour some pony beads into a bowl and invite your toddler to come and count the number of feathers in each bundle. After they have counted the number of feather have them slide that same number of beads down the pipe cleaner.
