How to Make a Jumping Frog Craft

  1. Use a CD or a bowl to trace and then cut out a circle out of green construction paper.
  2. Cut out a heart from the same green paper.
  3. Cut the heart in half and glue it to either side of the circle.
  4. Cut out webbed feet from green construction paper and glue them to the bottom of each heart half.
  5. From the black construction paper cut out a smile and glue it to the circle.
  6. Glue on two googley eyes.
  7. Cut out a long tongue from red construction paper. Curl it around a pencil and glue it to the mouth of the frog.
  8. Use a marker to add nostrils to the face.
  9. Use dot stickers or dot markers to add spots on the frog.

Time to Create the Jumping Apparatus

Time to take your paper cups. With one cup make two cuts about an inch long on either side of the cup to create two tabs. Take an elastic band and slide one end into the two slits on one side. Twist it and slide the other end into the slits on the other side. Slide the elastic band all the way down as far as it can go.

Next, glue the frog to the side of the cup with the elastic band. Make sure to secure all the parts of the frog. Its going to be jumping pretty high so you don’t want it to lose an eye on the way down.

Make your Frog Jump

Place the cup with the frog and the elastic band inside on top of the other cup. Press is down and move your hands out of the way quickly to let your frog jump! Experiment with different ways to get the frog to jump the highest!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to finally share my new crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched July 1 at on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
