Check out this soft taste-safe bubble foam sensory play idea perfect for babies and toddlers who like to put things in their mouths. The next time you’re cooking chick peas, save the liquid they come in to make this easy foamy sensory bin that is also ok to taste.

The next time you are making a batch of home made hummus, save the liquid that the chickpeas come in. That liquid is the base for this taste-safe bubble foam recipe. even if you don’t have the time to make it right away, save it in a small dish asn stash it in your fridge for up to a week before using it.

How to Make Taste-Safe Bubble Foam

  1. Open a can of chick peas.
  2. Drain the chick pea liquid into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add a drop of food colouring and mix with a spoon.
  4. Add the cream of tartar and use a hand blender to mix.
  5. Creamy soft foam will start to form after about 5 minutes of blending so stick with it.

Do you need to use cream of tartar?

No, its not absolutely necessary to add cream of tartar to the chick pea liquid to make the bubble foam. Adding the cream of tartar helps thicken the liquid to create foam faster but you can still make the bubble foam without it. You will just need to mix the liquid longer.

How to Play Taste-Safe Bubble Foam

For babies and toddler that like to put things into their mouths, add only items that do not pose a choking hazard such as large plastic blocks, balls, linking rings or large plastic animals.

For older toddlers you can create an under the sea sensory foam activity.

  1. Gently add the under the sea creatures. Heavier one will sink but the lighter toys will remain on top.
  2. Invite your little one to play!

Or you can add bowls, spoons and cups and let them scoop and pour and scrap and spoon the fluffy foamy suds!

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to finally share my new crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched July 1 at on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
