How to Put Up Your Nature Butterfly Sticky Wall

Before putting up your butterfly stick wall, draw the shape of a large butterfly on the non-paper side of your contact paper.

Easy Nature Butterfly Sticky Wall Craft

Contact paper has one side that is very very sticky, so unrolling it and taping it to a wall can be a little tricky. Here’s how I do it:

Step 1

Stick the sticky wall up on the wall using small rolled up pieces of tape in the four corners. Make sure the paper backing side is facing out.

Step 2

Peel the paper backing off to expose one small corner of the sticky paper. Continue peeling the paper backing off until one side is exposed. Tape that side down fully using Painter’s tape. This will ensure that it doesn’t fall down as your child is playing.

Step 3

Slowing peel back the remaining paper backing and tape down the other side. You can either use painters tape or masking tape but I find the duct tape works best on a fence. Test it before using.

Step 4 (optional)

Remove the small rolled up pieces of tape from underneath the sticky wall. These rolled up pieces were just there to help you get the sticky wall set up and can be removed once your sticky wall fully up. But if you don’t mind them there you don’t have to remove them.

How to Make Nature Butterfly Sticky Wall

Once your butterfly sticky wall is up you can have your little start looking for fallen flowers and leaves to use on their butterfly. If your think that will not stick to fallen flowers and start destroying your garden, this might be the activity to set up right now. But my flower loving girl adored this idea. She collected leaves and petals that had dropped from flowers all over our backyard.

You can also do this activity in you have some flowers inside your home that have faded.

Challenge for Older Kids

For older kids, you can also have them try and create butterfly wings that are symmetrical.
