Pin the tail on the donkey is a classic kid’s game that kids all around the world love to play. Pin the Star on the Christmas Tree is a fun Holiday twist on that game that we at Happy Toddler invented!!

It’s perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten aged kids. Even older kids would get a kick out of this fun game!

Here’s how to get started!
On a large piece of green construction paper draw the outline of a Christmas tree. I also added the outline of a some garland on the tree.

From the brown construction paper cut out a rectangle. This will be the stump of the Christmas tree.

Decorate the Tree
Next, you could either use this tree to play the Pin the Star on the Christmas Tree or you can have your little one decorate the Christmas tree using dot stickers. I got the idea to decorate the tree is this way from the fabulous Susie from Busy Toddler. Go check out the original blog post Christmas Dot Sticker Trees.

The advantage of having your little one decorate the tree in this way before you play the game is that it will extend the activity for you! And let you get a few more things done around the kitchen or house!

Pin the Star
Next, hang up the Christmas tree on the wall or window and take your foam or paper stars and place a piece of masking tape on the back of each one. Blindfold your child.

I used a silk scarf. Hand them a star, spin them around a few times and then face them in the direction of the tree and see if they can pin the star on top of the Christmas tree!

Directions
After we played this game a few times I started to give her directions on where to place the star while she was blindfolded.

This was a great way to practice left and right and listening to directions.

Great Fun
Needless to say this was a HUGE hit and lots of fun for me and for my four year old!

This game would make a fun Christmas party activity or a fun last day of school classroom activity!
