Materials
- Cut pool noodles
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
- Craft glue
Step-by-Step Instructions
Shape the Fish Body:
Take a cut section of the pool noodle to serve as the body of your fish. The length and thickness of the noodle will determine the size of your fish. Use scissors to cut the across a pool noodle for the fish body.
Add Fins and Tail:
Cut two pipe cleaners in half. Insert one end of two pipe cleaners to the back of the fish. Shape them to look like a fish tail.
Take one half of a pipe cleaner in half and insert one end of each half to the front of the fish. Curve them to make the fish’s mouth.
Finally glue on a googley eye and your pool noodle fish is complete! Make as many as your child would like!
Use them in the kiddie pool or water table. Add a magnetic wand for simple and fun STEM activity!

TV Show: Curious Crafting
I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.
Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.
In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.
