INSIDE: Salt Painted Fireworks s a super fun and easy craft for kids of all ages. With just a few household and crafting items you can create a beautiful piece of art that also doubles as a wonderful fine motor activity!
Salt Painting
Painting salt is a great fine motor activity for toddlers, preschoolers and older kids. The other great thing about this craft is that your little one can decide what they want to make. Today we were making fireworks so I first drew some fireworks for everyone. Once done they simply had to outline it in glue to start the salt painting process!

Salt Painted Fireworks for Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve
Grab a sheet of black construction paper. You can do this activity on white paper but I just really love how the coloured salt looks on a black background.
Have your little one draw fireworks picture using the pencil. Don’t colour it in.
Hand then a bottle of glue and have them outline the picture with the glue.
Next hand them a bowl of salt and have them cover the entire sheet with salt.
Pour the excess salt back in the the bowl.
Next, grab your watercolor paints and small brush. Don’t have watercolor paints? No problem. You can also use food coloring and water.
Dip your brush into the paint or colored water and then lightly touch the salt and watch as the colour spreads over the salt.
Repeat with different colours until the entire picture is complete.
Age Suitability
This activity is good for kids 2.5 years and up . My kids are 3.5, 3.5, and 7.5 year old.
