The Best Sensory Play Kits for Kids

Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.

Our Sensory Play Kits are a fun and easy way to keep your child engaged while at the same time capitalizing on the benefits of sensory play to nurture their mind!

How to Make a Sidewalk Chalk Road

  1. Grab your sidewalk chalk and create a road network as big as your backyard will allow.

Invite your little one to add some details to their road in order to make it into a community. Ask them what kind of stores they want in their community. Grocery Store? Candy Store? Book Store?

What other places in your community do they want to add? Ask them what are their favourite places to visit. Library? Swimming Pool?

My kids recently went to the carwash so that featured heavily in our play.

Add favourite friends or family’s homes as well to your community.

If you are going on a road trip, role play going o the trip with them. Talk about the places you will visit, places where you can stop to eat or use the washroom.

Build Your Community

To build our community we used wooden blocks, trees and arches. You can also use magnetic tiles, Lego, or Mega Bloks to create the community structures around your city.

This was a lot of fun for my 3 year old twins. I even sat and played with them for bit. A great way to spent a summer afternoon at home!
