This winter play dough invitation to play is a fantastic indoor activity for toddlers and preschoolers. Let your little one create a wintry outdoor scene, make a snowman or decorate a mitten!
Play dough is amazing for developing fine motor skills and creativity. It can also help to improve academic skills by combining it with almost any learning unit! I find that it is also an amazing activity that both little kids and big kids can enjoy together.

If you are like me and have toddlers and older kids at home play dough should be your go to activity. I like to set up a play dough invitation to play after school for my kids to play with and explore. I helps to keep them occupied as I put the final touches on dinner.
Play dough activities are one of those activities that I know all my kids will enjoy and be engaged with for quite a while. We haven’t done a play dough activity since the fall so I thought that it was time to make a fresh batch and combine it with our older play dough for this fun winter invitation to play.

Grab your blue and white play dough. Here’s our favourite homemade no-cook play dough recipe. It is truly the best out there. Anna from The Imagination Tree has a secret ingredient that makes all the difference.

I find the easiest way to set up an invitation to play with play dough is by using a appetizer tray. I bought mine from the dollar store years ago and I use it for all our play dough invitations.

Place all your blue and white gems, trees and necklaces in the tray. If you don’t have exactly what I have in the pictures, not to worry! Use what you have! This is my saying for everything to do with kids and setting up kids activities – USE WHAT YOU HAVE and improvise everything else.
They have no idea what a winter invitation to play is nor do they care. All they want is play dough and some fun shiny things to put in the play dough. So I invite you to use what you have and create a fun invitation that your child will love!

My kids loved this winter play dough set up! They created snowmen and decorated mittens with gems stones. I add a few gingerbread cookie cutters from our Christmas stash and them created little winter people! So fun!
