Acorn Slides A Fine Motor Fall Activity

How to Set Up Acorn Slides

Grab your sensory bin and cardboard tubes and masking tape. I created the acorn slides on my sensory table outside but you can tape your cardboard tubes almost anywhere. Other places that you can tape them to include your fridge, dishwasher, cupboards, walls or windows.

I like to use a sensory bin for activities like these because it helps to contain the acorns in one place making it a little easier for my toddlers to grab the acorns to drop.

I used different sized cardboards tubes (i.e. toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls) and taped them at different angles and heights for my 18 month old twin toddlers.

Demonstrating to my toddlers what to do is the best way to get them on board with an activity. We have done activities similar to this so they were all over it as soon as I showed them how to drop the acorns down the tubes.

A Fun Fine Motor Fall Activity

This is a great activity to do after you go on a walk with your toddler this Fall. Collecting a bunch of acorns with toddlers is a great way to get outside as the weather gets cooler. Bring them home and set this up for a quick after nap activity!
