This is a great craft to do during Black History Month. This fun craft would also make a great addition to any all about me unit for toddlers and preschoolers!

Fold a piece of black construction paper lengthwise in half. Fold it in half again and cut along the second fold.

Repeat with the red and green construction paper.

Use a single hole punch to make three holes along the spine. Take a craft stick and measure to make sure that the holes will be the same length as the craft stick.

Take a piece of ribbon and cut it into three sections. Thread them through each hole and tie a loose knot.

Slide the craft stick through the ribbons on the outside of the book. Tighten all three ribbons and tie a bow, if desired.

Measure and cut out white pieces of paper to glue on to each right-sided page of the book. They should be slightly smaller than each page to reveal the construction paper border on all sides. Glue them down on each right-sided page of the book.

Title the book “MY BOOK OF QUOTES BY Maya Angelou”.

Write different quotes from Maya Angelou everyday and draw a picture to accompany the quote. See below from quote examples.
