How to Make a Puffy Paint Flower
Grab your supplies.
Cut out the shape of a flower from white card stock or a paper plate. Cover your surface with Kraft paper or cardboard to protect your surface while they are painting the flowers.

How to Make Puffy Paint
In a muffin tin, combine the white school glue, shaving cream and a few drops of food colouring. I used a craft stick to mix it. Puffy paint resembles cloud but it doesn’t last for ever. Use the paint within 30 minutes. Once dry the paint will remain full for a few hours and then loose it thickness over time. Once dry it should feel dry to the touch.

Time to Decorate your Flowers
Use your puffy paint to paint the flower petals.

Once you’re done, cut out a stem and leaves from green construction paper and glue them down on another sheet of construction paper.
Glue the puffy paint flowers on top of the stems.

Puffy Paint FAQs
How long does it take to dry?
Puffy paint can take anywhere from 1-2 hours to fully dry depending on how thick your paint with it. The thinner the layer of paint the less time it will take to dry.
Does it stay puffy?
YES! Once dry the puffy paint will remain puffy and will be firm to touch. The puffiness does eventually and slowly go down over time.
Do I have to use shaving cream?
Yes, the shaving cream is what gives it the puffy appearance. If your child doesn’t like the smell of shaving cream, try to choose one that is unscented.
Do I have to use glue?
Yes, but you can use white school glue or clear glue. Both types of glue will work. If you don’t use glue it will just be shaving cream and it will not dry. It will messy (fun) but messy.
Can I make puffy paint ahead of time?
Like most paint, puffy paint will dry out if left out for longer than 30 mins. Make puffy paint immediately before and close to the time of usage.
Can I store already made puffy paint?
I have not tried to store it before. But you could potentially store puffy paint in squeeze bottle containers but you have to make sure they are air tight. If left in the air puffy paint will dry out.
