Instead of Screen time try Sensory Play Kits for Kids

Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.

Our Sensory Play Kits are a fun and easy way to keep your child engaged while at the same time capitalizing on the benefits of sensory play to nurture their mind!

How to Make Tissue Paper Apple Craft

This craft is great craft for toddlers and preschoolers as its super easy to create. All you need to do before hand to prepare is to cut up the bleeding tissue paper into small squares. Now you can absolutely do the activity with just regular tissue paper but you won’t get the same colouring running effect the bleeding tissue paper gives.

Bleeding tissue paper bleeds colour once wet. It’s the kind of tissue paper meant for crafts. It would not work for wrapping gifts as the colour may destroy the gift.

Tips

You will also need a baking sheet as this activity can get messy with the water and the colour from the tissue paper. I would also use more than one paper plate to help contain the water. Place the paper plate in a baking sheet and hand your little one a bowl with a small amount of water and a paint brush.

Invite your child to brush the paper plate with a small amount of water and they lay a piece of tissue paper in the water. It will stick to the paper plate. Invite them to then brush it again with a small amount of water to watch the colour bleed. Invite them to continue painting with the water and laying down the tissue paper until the entire paper plate is covered.

if the plate gets too wet, soak up some of the water with a paper towel. Let your paper plate dry.

In the meantime, trace your child’s hand on a sheet of brown construction paper. Cut it out. This will be your stem and branch for their apple. Cut out a leaf and invite them to glue the leaf to the branch. Once your apple is dry enough, glue the branch and leaf to the paper plate!

Age Suitability for Tissue Paper Apple Craft

This activity is good for kids 2.5 years and up. My kids are 3, 3, and 6 year old.
