If you’re anything like us, summer means loading up the car, packing way too many snacks, and heading off on another camping adventure. We love exploring new campgrounds every year—from tucked-away forest sites to lakefront spots perfect for skipping rocks. But one of our absolute favorite things to do while camping? Easy, low-prep nature camping crafts. There’s something magical about crafting with what you find around your site—twigs, leaves, pinecones, wildflowers. It keeps the kids busy, brings out their creativity, and gives them a little nature-made souvenir to remember the trip.
Why You’ll Love These Camping Crafts
- Camping crafts are the perfect combo of relaxing and creative.
- They’re mess-free (for the most part), use supplies you can find right around your tent, and they give kids a focused, hands-on activity during that “what now?” downtime between meals and hikes.
- Plus, they don’t take up a lot of space—no giant bins of paint or glitter needed! You can keep it simple and meaningful. Think nature faces, fairy houses, or flower crowns using only what’s around you.

What to Pack for Easy Camping Crafts
We always bring a small “craft kit” with us when we camp. Nothing wild—just the basics:
- White cardstock or cardboard pieces
- Glue (liquid glue and glue sticks)
- Sharpie, black pen
- Crayons or markers
- Washable Paint and paint brush
- Scissors
- String or twine
- A small bowls
- Paper straws
- Brown Package tape
- Construction paper
Trust me, it doesn’t need to be fancy. With just a few supplies and a little creativity, you’ve got everything you need for a week’s worth of forest-inspired fun. We usually aim for one or two crafts per day, depending on what kind of adventure we’ve planned.
