April is such a fun month for doing crafts with toddlers and preschoolers! The weather is (mostly) getting warmer, the flowers are starting to bloom, and there are so many exciting themes to explore—from spring animals and rainy days to Earth Day and Easter.
This is the time of year when my kids love to get outside more, but let’s be real—April can also mean random chilly days and unexpected rainstorms that make indoor activities a must. That’s when craft time saves the day.
There’s something about April crafts that just feels extra fun—maybe it’s all the bright colors, flowers, and baby animals that start popping up everywhere. If you’re looking for easy and engaging crafts in April to keep little hands busy this month, I’ve got you covered!
Why We Love April Crafts
April is all about color, texture, and creativity. This is when we start doing more outdoor art (because painting outside = less mess inside). We love making rainbow crafts after a rainy day, picking flowers for inspiration, and doing lots of sensory-based art that brings nature into our craft time.
It’s also such a fun time to connect crafts with books—we love reading about spring, rain, bugs, and Earth Day while crafting something related.
So, whether it’s rainy outside or sunny and warm, April crafts give little ones a chance to explore, create, and celebrate the season—and that’s exactly why we love them!
